3. SAAS BAHU AUR SAAJISH! :)

“YE ZAROOR USKI SAAJISH HOGI… MAI BHI SABAKH SIKHA KE HE RAHUNGI!”

“TUM NIKAL JAO GHAR SE BAAHAR! MAINE KYA SOCHA THA AUR TUM KYA NIKLI?!”

After reading these lines, what was it that came in your head???

DAILY SOAPS!

Right? J

Time has flown but it seems like producers and directors like Ekta Kapoor etc refuse to move with time. Their serials are still struck in the era where women were loaded with jewels, stuck in the kitchen, unaware of the outside world and if they knew anything apart from cooking… it was BITCHING AND GOSSIPING and the men, happily getting involved in extra marital affairs.

The mother-in-law is generally portrayed as either very cruel, who would tear the soul out of the daughter-in-law’s body or as very timid where the daughter-in-law would make her do the work. I mean, come on guys…grow up!

This is not what society is really like. There may be some % of people who still fall in this category but the majority is way civilized. Electronic media should be used to portray the reality and not to pollute the society. There is hardly any serial which must have not shown an EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIR! They show it as if it is rampant in the society. It is like exaggerating the truth. Then it no more remains the truth.

On the other hand, there were some serials which started off for addressing a particular issue like female infanticide or child marriage but after a few months they too loose their track and no more address the cause they had started off for.

E.g.: serials like LAADO, BALIKA VADHU were interesting and depicted hard core reality but then again they too have lost their track and only the producer can tell what story is going on.

I have seriously lost the interest in watching television now. It either has REALITY SHOWS that are nowhere close to reality or DAILY SOAPS which exaggerate the reality!

Aren’t you guys facing the same problem??? Tell me.

  2. hmm......interesting but at the end of the day ....the people are watching them...TRPs are high for such serials encouraging people like Ekta Kapoor to make such frustrating unreal shows...that means people are watching them and also loving them...thats the truth and the fact that majority of the population of such serial watchers are married women .....
TV is anyway an idiot box airing even more idiotic stuff ....unhealthy for our brains and overall well being.

  5. That is entirely ur wish what you want to watch.
It is not just that the TV shows rubbish saas bahu serials.
It also shows meaningful, life saving programs. for eg. satyameva jayate, man vs wild- most of the people think that it is the most disgusting program but once just try to think how many have lost their lives becoz they didnt knew what to do when they are lost in a forest, but in last few months people have actually thanked Bear Grylls becoz of him they survived where others have lost their lives, hopes.
No one has a gun pointed to your head, that you should only watch this or that. Ekta Kapoor will continue making such daily soaps. Belive me she is one of the most smartest womens. She knows it dosen't matter how rubbish, disgusting her daily soaps are but she knows what indian society wants(not only women but men also). You cannot blame her for showing this kind of daily soaps, she is doing this only becoz our society wants to watch it, admire it.
"watching melodrama...and saas bahu stuff will only give head ache"!. The remote is in your hand. Even if you are criticising it that means you are talking about it, promoting it unintationally. Only awareness can get society back on track, only we can make a Television back from idiot box to a box which can spread awareness, who can teach good things, who can give people the best medicine- Laughter, etc.
Stop cribing start making intelligent choices and Enjoy!

    1. oho... that's impressive adi! :) ofcourse, the choice is always in our hands whether to watch a programe or not. and there are many types of programs that go on air which are way meaningful than these soap operas.
also...by criticising it, i am also spreading awareness and not just promoting it! :P
by the way, MAN V/S WILD is my favourite programe! :D
