MUMBAI UNIVERSITY: an epitome of mismanagement

Mumbai University has always been famous for messing around with final year question papers. Sometimes it sends wrong question paper to hundreds of exam centers and sometimes, it forgets to sends the papers only! All this is not new and even the students have got used to it. In the year 1978, the final year B.A. students faced something that totally uprooted everyone’s faith from the institution. The results were released after over a month of hold and surprisingly the reason was that many answer sheets were recovered from the DRAIN of all places!!!

How can the university be so careless??

In my eyes, the university has become a LIVING EPITOME OF MISMANAGEMENT. Off late it was also in news for paper leaks of almost every exam of BMS and B.com (2011-2012). This led to a series of re-examinations, thereby spoiling student’s holidays and increase in stress.

Also, sometime back the university had FORGOT to issue hall tickets to students. And the other lucky ones, who fortunately or unfortunately got the hall tickets, were allotted centers that were kilometer away from their place of residence or college.

It is really hard for me believe, how can an institution that is made for proper evaluation of a student’s final year exams be so careless and ignorant and happily play around with their future??? After every controversy, all we hear is “a committee has been made to look into the matter”. But after that? Apart from apologizing and making even more grave mistakes, there is hardly anything that is done.

I have also started doubting about the authenticity of the marks given by them… whether the papers are being checked by proper teachers or some peons and high school children!

I am in my final year and wonder what surprises the university has in store for my batch now. L If I could, I would have filed a complaint for emotionally harassing the students, who are already under immense pressure to perform well.

Come on university, you have been standing in KALINA, SANTACUZ for decades now!!! Haven’t you grown up???
