Ideally people who have committed some crime are send to
jails with the intention to correct them. But unfortunately certain totally
opposite things happen inside them… and thus the intention and actions don’t go
hand in hand.
I don’t know about the foreign jails, but most of the Indian
jails are heavily overcrowded, unhygienic, inmates are treated like animals and
what not!!!
IT IS ACTUALLY A BREEDING GROUNG FOR FUTURE CRIMINALS.
The inmates who have even 1% scope of improving might also
end up becoming stubborn. Gang wars are prevalent in jails. The weaker inmates
have to be a part of some or the gang or”bhai” as we popularly them know as…to
be get their daily food and other basics.
Whether they like it or not, “chamchagiri” is
unavoidable!
The Moradabad central jail which has space for 650 prisoners
actually houses almost 2200 inmates. There is barely any place for them to
sleep comfortably. The people sleep in shifts because it is nearly impossible
for all of them to sleep at once!
But all this doesn’t stop the mafias from running their
business…even from behind the bars. They happily cater to their “clients” every
day from the jail…thanks to mobile phones and the lax security system!
The male prisons might be bad, but the female ones are
all the more worst!
The female inmates have to continuously undergo torture
in the form of SEXUAL HARRASMENT. They cannot even raise their voice against
this because it is the officials who do this to them!
An ex-inmate told to The Times of India, that women were
stripped naked and abused verbally and sexually and devoid them of their basic
necessities.
Now tell me, if this is the condition of our jails and
rehab centers, how can we say that we are PROGRESSING????? Nation’s development
does not only mean scientific inventions or political stability… the reforms
have take place in every part of our society…in every place where a human
resides!
With near to 1337 prisons and over 400000 prisoners… Indian
government does not have a reason to neglect this area. Even their development
and upliftment is of equal importance.
Isn’t it guys?? J

Returnees of the Jail always tell horror part of the life. So it may not be so worse.
ReplyDeleteit is the ex-prisoners themselves who tell the horror stories of humiliation and abuse... otherwise people would have never come to know!
Deleteoh by the way... may i know your good name?
Deletethank u for your opinions.... :) keep up with the blog! :)
kya karein........aakhir..indian hain na....ab bataao hai koi jawab?
ReplyDeletethe lax system has only 1 reason..."india hai, yahan aisa he hota"...
Deleteif a rapist absconds from police custody... even then "india me aisa he hota hai"...
for every thing.... this is the best and a typical excuse!
you forgot about the lavish life style of the government servants, Kasab, etc.
ReplyDeleteohh yes!!! thanks a lot adi for mentioning that point.
Deletehow could i forget the lavish lifestyle politicians enjoy in jails... they are periodically served chicken and mutton kebebs, biryanis, best dishes...and have access to mobile phones, internet and what not!
recently, it was in news that the total bill of all the facilities availed by kasab has ran into thousands and lakhs of rupees...! so we can see where the tax payers money is going now... :(
