From quite some time, I am noticing only 2 types of reports
in the newspapers:
1.
Presidential elections and the politics around
it.
2.
Depressing news
Every other news apart from political ones falls in the
second category. E.g.:
-a woman jumps off her 10th floor apartment with
kids.
-a bus slips into the valley. Driver missing and 3 kids
injured.
-a girl gang raped by 5 men.
-farmer drinks pesticide and kills self.
-a day old baby found in a plastic bag.
Is this what we call news?? Reading newspapers these days
makes me all the more depressed! L
What’s the point in reading something that only makes you sadder and doesn’t enlighten
you in any way?!
Reading on some of the latest developments and inventions…
or some new archeological site found etc is the REAL NEWS!! But when was the
last time we read such a thing in paper? Hard to recall….isn’t it?
Except for the news on “GOD PARTICLE”, I haven’t really come
across any such news.
Media plays a major role in changing focus and perspective
about things and people and in forming & changing opinions. It would be
wrong to say that the media is responsible for this because they will report only
those things that are happening in the society…and no doubt, the society is
actually full of mal-practices, torture, kidnappings and crimes.
But at the same time, it’s not that inventions or
discoveries are not taking place. It’s just that to shift our focus from crimes…crimes
and crimes… news papers and electronic media will have to play a major role.
Sometimes I feel…it’s better to read the business news
papers instead of daily papers. At least the former has some sensible news and information.
What are your thoughts on the state of “news” in today’s
time? Tell me. J
actually Shrishti.....i too have been wondering y do we call the preposterous stuff in the news "ACTULLAY" as "NEWS"?
ReplyDeleteits because we as the "readers"....are reading it with much attention and interests ....actually u noe what these journalists are quite shrewd people ....they r doing this to keep away us from the actual news...for eg...When will America stop bossing around in every country's economy ...or when is its troops leaving the Afghanistan ...and all that ....or the press is actually for the benefit of the people...but sadly they are sold to big bureaucrats, politicians industrialists...and we the foolish public believe in their solomen promises of making the public aware of the current happenings and other s****. i vote we stop purchasing the rotten newspapers.....but again ........unfortunately our will power is "TOO STRONG TO THIS",....(smirking)....:/
you are rght.
Deletemoreover, wether we like it or not...we can never stop reading newspapers! because at the end of the day, this is what is asked in the interviews and general awareness section of exams. we have filter the news ourselves and analyse what is usefull and what is crap! this is what i do.
I found some news paper more have marketing content rather having news to I would like to prefer you "Hindu" they have very good editorial section, many don't buy it because they don't print any news like you mention. They get many award also because of their quality of content.
ReplyDeleteWhat I found you have read what you don't like to read avoid all the things you don't like. This world is full with choices the question is you have to just find out what's like you have.
So my advice to all reader if they don't like anything just stop buying that if nobody purchase they will definitely close the shop. Stop wasting energy to criticize someone. you cant change the world you can change only you.
