Stop pushing your parents into old age homes!!!

“Old is gold” was an old saying.

“Old is trash” is the new one!!!

And this even includes ‘aged parents’…apart from table, chair, fridge etc. At least this is what I infer from the growing trend in our society!

After spending their whole life in making sure that you had a smile on your face, you had your favorite doll and toy car or dress… is throwing them away in an old age home justified???  Is this what you expect from your children as well???

While you were learning how to walk and take those few steps, your father was the one who would hold your little hand and take you for a round. Whenever you fell down, it was your mother who would come rushing in tears and pick you up... kiss you…dust you and motivate you to give it a try again.

Had comfort and freedom been their first priority, they would have easily put you in a boarding school/ hostel and continued to enjoy their life!!! But they didn’t… because there was something more too than just “growing you up” that even they wanted to experience. It was “seeing you grow up”. They wanted to be a part of your memory… they wanted to capture your 1st cry,  your 1st laugh, your 1st step, the 1st word that you spoke, your 1st day in school…and many more things…without expecting anything in return.

PARENTS ARE THE BEST EXAMPLE OF A SELFLESS LIFE.

With age we expect the person to become more mature and understanding. But more and more people are proving it wrong these days. The speed at which old age homes are coming up is shocking!!!

There are more than 1000 old age homes in India, with close to 200 homes in Maharashtra alone!!! Also, around 4000-5000 mothers, abandoned by their children have made the place “vrindavan” their home. They don’t have much work to do and are left with no option but to BEG and make ends meet!

So if they can make sure that we are taken off at every possible stage of our life, why can’t we lend a helping a hand in their fragile stage of life???

Sit back and give it a thought. Am I not right?

If they could happily adjust in a 1 room kitchen house with 2-3 kids, why are we reluctant to accommodate them in our 2-3 BHK house???

WHERE ARE WE HEADING???

It’s time we start giving them our time, love, attention and happiness and stop complaining about them and their health. After all they are the ones responsible for your presence in this world. Be grateful to them.

To those who have already pushed their parents into an old age home, I PITY YOU! YOU TOO WILL BE OLD SOME DAY… BE READY! (What goes around…comes around)

To those who haven’t, I SALUTE YOU.
And those who are planning to, THINK ONCE AGAIN.

  1. Parents are always the best and well wishers in the world.
Also, people don't realize that a generation becomes "OLD" because of the arrival of the "NEW" generation. so you are the reason behind them becoming "old".
so stop blaming them now !!!
