With women’s day being round the corner, I thought let me
start writing a string of posts concerning women. Ranging from women
entrepreneurs to the “girlie” issues, you will now get a lot of insight in to a
woman’s life.
Everything has a flip side, and so does “LOVE”. On one
side, if the crime rate among lovers has shot up, the pregnancy and abortion
rate among youngsters has also shot up!
Today, a lot of females are popping the morning after
pill without giving a second thought. It is easy to use. It is more effective
than the traditional contraceptive method. It can be hidden and others will not
even come to know that you had something like this.
But having found a packet of *-pill in my college’s desk, it
put me in some deep thoughts. Something I thought should be shared and more and
more people, especially women should know about.
And I personally feel that the whole purpose of
introducing an emergency contraceptive pill has diluted over the years. It easy
availability and a guarantee for “Tension-free” sex, has landed itself in a lot
of wrong hands.
IS
IT SAFE?
Occasionally, YES! But repetitive use of a contraceptive
pill can have serious side effects.
A lot of people use the pill too often,
despite having read about the risks. It’s the same reason why people smoke
despite knowing the risks and why people eat too much despite knowing that they
are overweight.
Though till some time back, the reviews of any
contraceptive pill were good, recent study and researches have expressed their
opinion on the contrary. More than 85 % of women are unaware of the ingredients
in a contraceptive pill and the side effects it bears.
The side effects can majorly be divided into 2 parts- The
Mild ones and The Serious ones.
The mild ones could be:
-nausea
-headache
-slight weight gain
-breast tenderness
These mild effects last for a few days without causing
any serious harm to the body. But there have been cases where frequent use of
these pills showed serious consequences.
Recently, a 19 year old girl suffered from 7 heart
attacks in just a month’s time. On further investigation it came out, that the
girl had been popping the pill almost every second day and had developed
hundreds of blood clots in her blood veins.
So obviously, such frequent use will only land you in a
hospital… but apart from these, there are a host of other side effects that you
need to be aware of.
Ranging from giddiness, blood clots in vital parts such
as lungs, blood veins, uterus etc to heart attacks/strokes, excessive use can
always take a toll on your health.
So hereafter, think twice before slipping it down your
gullet. You are precious and so is your body.
You cannot exchange years of pain for a few minutes of
pleasure!
