Though I have been
on the planet for over 20 years now, but still I haven’t come across even the
slightest convincing answer to the question: “Why is it a crime to be fat?” or
let’s say “Not slim”
No matter where I go,
who I meet… I get tones of “Free Advice” from all the “healthy” people, telling
me how I should be loosing weight! I mean is “Fat” really the worst thing a
human being can be?
In today’s world,
where being “beautiful” is associated with “Fair skin” (thanks to fair &
lovely) and a “34-28-34”, even the slightest deviation from these standards
outcasts you! Girls are going on a dieting spree and guys, on gyming, only to
achieve a body that fits the “Society-standards”.
If you think having
talent is enough for you to be appreciated and loved… then I don’t need to tell
how wrong you are. It does not matter if you are a topper, can cook well, keep
everyone happy, if you are a visionary, social worker, singer, writer or simply
a good human being, people come to judge you the moment you start gaining
weight.
To all the uncles
and aunties and people with “Prefect-hormonal-balance” and “thigh gaps”, please
go and get a life! I understand you have ZERO entertainment in your life, but really,
I don’t need YOUR advice.
Why don’t you go
and do some meditation and seva for self-enlightenment? And who knows you might
as well learn how to mind your own business in the process :)
It makes absolutely
NO-SENSE when you compare us to those skinny-anorexic chicks out there. It is
all the more annoying when the “tips-to-loose-weight” comes from someone who is
double, or may be triple your size! Dude, I love food. And I love eating every
bit of it. Am I clear?
Besides let me
share some gyaan with you all. There are a lot of reasons for gaining weight,
apart from EATING. Here are a few:
1. Over production
of hormones
3. Genetic- If the parents are on the heavier side, chances
are that their offsprings will also be on the heavier side. It is in genes.
4. Pregnancy- YES!
Even pregnant women are not spared. Post delivery, it is obvious for a woman to
gain weight. But on 1 hand where we say it is “OK” and “Obvious”, I can’t
forget how much Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was criticized for her post pregnancy
weight.
5. Phase of life-
Some people have the tendency to find comfort in food when in depression or a
low phase.
Finally, a message
for all the people who are naturally big:
Don’t give up on
society’s pressure on being slim. Love yourself and love your body. It is
important to live a healthy and a happy life.
Big is beautiful ;)
