And Mondays were never the same | Short Story Part 1

Hello my lovelies. When i started writing short stories, my stories used to have a plot, start, end and a twist. But as I have progressed in my writing journey, I have realized that even the smallest of the smallest moments have the magic and power to change you. So here’s a moment in the form of a short story. Hope you have a nice time reading :)

Rhea saw him shuffling between the corner cabin and his work station. Not very far from her workstation. Ideally she should have wondered who this new guy on the floor was. Which team he had joined and what his role was. But all she could really ponder on was his marital status! Guessing by his looks, if he was married and hoping so hard that he wasn’t.

Rhea walked up to the water cooler that was closer to this cabin he was shooting in and out of. She noticed the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, exposing his firm forearms. His sculpted waist spoke volumes about his athletic preferences. Every time he spoke, his noticeable Adam’s apple went about a rhythmic up and down, almost hypnotising.

“Hey, I am Rohan.” Rhea fluttered with the tap, and looked around. There he was. Standing so very close to her. She took his hand and her stomach did a backflip. She was so lost in the entire “Is he married or not” battle that she didn’t realize when he walked up to her.

“And you are?” She couldn’t remember words, so she nodded. He smiled and she felt heat spread through her body.

Instantly realizing the reason behind his smile, she said “Sorry. I am Rhea, pleasure meeting you.”
His dark deep eyes never left hers. “I have recently joined the Operations Team as Vice President.
Don’t know many people outside the team. It’s really nice knowing someone so pretty on the floor.”

She nodded, cursed herself and said “Oh, thank you!” Trying to supress her nervous laughter.

Rohan winked and Rhea could feel all the worlds’ butterflies flutter inside her. “Can I have my hand back now?”, and realizing that she had been holding his hand all this time, Rhea went bright red with embarrassment and released him.

“Hey Rohan, Boss wants you now”, they both turned around. It was one of his team members. “Have a busy day today. We will catch up soon.” Buzzed Rohan.

“Ahaan...” Rhea announced hastily, watching him rush into the cabin for the zillionth time.

Rhea walked back to her desk, and now within the safe confinements of her work station, she let out a deep breath. She smiled. Blushed. Needless to say, stalked him over on social media.

She had no idea if this was love at first sight, crush, infatuation or just a bag full of mixed feelings. All she knew was that her Mondays would never be the same, and she was absolutely Ok with it.
